Tech for the Tides: AI-Powered Maritime Tech

Seafety AI

75% of Marine Accidents Are Caused by Human Error.

Seafety AI harnesses cutting-edge AI technology to prevent costly accidents, save lives, and unlock greater value across the maritime industry.

Who We Are

Building the Future of Safer Oceans

Seafety AI, incubated by Taiwan’s Ship and Ocean Industries R&D Center (SOIC) and supported by Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs, leads the innovation of AI-based maritime safety. Our flagship system, AI Sailor, empowers vessels to sense, react, and stay safe at sea.

The Urgency. Why Seafety Can’t Wait?

Marine Accidents Are Preventable. But Still Happen Every Day.

Human Error

%

75% to 96% of marine accidents involve human error (Source).

Lives Lost

24,000 deaths occur every year in accidents on fishing vessels worldwide (Source).

Economic Impact

Human error costs the maritime industry over $1.6 billion annually in insurance claims alone (Source).

Our Solution

AI Sailor: Smarter Navigation for Every Vessel

Your Crew’s Extra Set of Eyes and Brain

AI safety system designed for real-time collision prevention, multi-object detection, and situational awareness.

  • Works with existing vessel infrastructure
  • Detects nearby vessels, obstacles, and potential risks in real-time
  • Warns and guides crews before danger happens
  • Simple to install, affordable to scale

How AI Sailor Works

Use Cases & Deployment

Smarter Ocean Monitoring with THETIS

The THETIS Smart Vessel demonstrates the real-world impact of AI Sailor through key collaborations and advanced testing:

Smart Ocean Monitoring

In partnership with Taiwan’s Central Weather Administration and National Cheng Kung University’s Coastal Ocean Monitoring Center, THETIS is equipped with advanced instruments like the Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP), Single Beam Echo Sounder (SBES), and IMU to develop intelligent marine weather and ocean data collection technologies.

Satellite Communication Testing

Collaborating with ITRI and Chunghwa Telecom, THETIS tests low-Earth orbit broadband antennas (using Eutelsat OneWeb) to enable high-speed, low-latency maritime communications, supporting smart port and offshore wind farm applications.

Underwater Surveying

Working with top domestic surveying companies, THETIS assists with providing data from hydrographic surveys and offshore wind farm maintenance operators by performing precise underwater depth measurements, enhancing operational safety and planning.

Our goal

The 2035 Safety Upgrade: Smarter Seas Start Here

AI Sailor brings human-centric autonomy to the sea, empowering small and mid-sized vessels with real-time AI navigation and collision avoidance. By 2035, we aim to upgrade 1 million vessels in Taiwan and Indonesia, starting a transformation across 3 million in Asia and 5 million worldwide. Safer seas begin here.

Our vision

Safeguards Billion-Dollar Wind Farms & Fishing Economy

Taiwan’s west coast offshore wind farms are booming, creating rich fishing grounds but also collision risks. With turbines worth 200-300 million NTD each, AI Sailor can provide critical vessel guidance to maintain safe distances, protecting infrastructure while preserving fishermen’s valuable fishing territories and enabling secure maintenance operations.
